I’d been putting off writing up Friday’s session because I’m about as sick of blanking as I’m sure you lot are of reading about it. So, motivated by my annoyance, after making my ‘Muddy Bank’ post this morning I dashed off down to the lake with my marker rod and a couple of small bags of boillies, determined to find something!
Now I’m home, warming my chilly paws and nursing a nasty case of catapult-kickback on my left hand, but hopeful that tomorrow might just be the day. Having read a fantastic article on winter Carp fishing I decided to try and concentrate on the depth that I’m fishing, and the sun’s effect on it.
I’ve picked out the margin I believe will see the most of the sun throughout the course of the day, at the south-westerly corner of the island, and baited one spot at the top of the marginal slope and another at the bottom (see below). I haven’t gone overboard with the baiting - around 20 freebies over each spot, but enough to maybe give those active fish a taste for my bait again.
Tonight I’m tying long, supple hooklinks to try and fool a cautiously feeding fish, and preparing some pellet and boillie mix to fish ‘method style’ around my lead.
Roll on tomorrow!
