Yes, you guessed it - another blank session. I fished Friday through to Saturday lunchtime and managed a couple of Bream to about 4lb. Fishing from the swim where I had most success in the summer, it was another disappointing night, but this is winter Carp fishing after all. I never expected it to be easy, and I don’t think it has helped that i’m clearly the only angler still actively pursuing the Carp. The result is that hardly any bait is going into the water, giving the fish the perfect excuse to switch off for winter.
How to go about reversing the trend?
Well, now I’ve finished working till i head down to France I’ll have a lot more time on my hands, which I’m going to put to use pre-baiting a few spots around the lake. The hope is that any active fish will find the bait and keep coming back to that spot for a tasty nutritious snack.
I’ll be off tonight to bait for a day session tomorrow, and I’ll be taking my boots; for a balancing lake, the draininage is remarkably poor. Mud abounds!
