My personal Carp fishing blog.

I’m still here!

Just a quick note, in the absence of any substantial posts recently: I’m still here, but being surrounded by Carp fishing all day, every day has taken it’s toll - I spent last weekend quiver-tipping for bream!
I’ll get the Carping fever back soon, i just know it!

Mixing it with the public

Now that the season has begun on the Exclusive Angling Holidays lakes, and the temptation to indulge in the fishing there has been permanently removed, I am finally able to really focus on my target water. The lake in question is a stunning ‘Carte De Peche’ (municipal) water of around 12 acres that i have […]

It’s reet naace oop north

When faced with the long drive north into Normandy to collect bait for the coming season, my dislike for the driving was offset by the knowledge that i would be able to drop a line in the lake i was heading towards. The lake was Lakes Escapes ‘Lake PB’, and i knew that there was […]

A forced session

My reliable car, ‘The Tub’, has been suffering of late and was due to go into the garage on Wednesday night. This left me without transport for Thursday morning, so being the dedicated professional that I am, I offered to camp out at the lakes just so that i could work a full day on […]

An afternoon with a French virgin

They say there are no virgin waters in France. Well that might be true, but I’m happy to call a little lake i have gained access to ‘virgin’. I know it hasn’t been fished seriously in the last decade and has been stocked at least twice in the last 30 years. The current owner talks […]

A brace of 30s!

After a busy week, Saturday finally came, and with it came my chance to escape out onto the banks and ponder the passage of time. I’d been content with day sessions for the past few weeks, but the urge to get out and spend a night by the water was almost overpowering. However, this in […]

It was time to brave it. I’d put it off for too long, but today was going to be my first French ‘Public Lake’ experience. My reservations stemmed from a fear of the garde du peche (and not trusting my translation of the information that came with my carte du peche), and getting too used […]

One last Bleu day…

Cabin fever is a terrible thing, and after 6 days of incessant rain it would be fair to say i was suffering from a lack of time on the bank. So when the forecast for Sunday showed high temperatures and a break in the rain i mentally pencilled a session in. I’m not ashamed to […]

A stolen session on Bleu

Despite my best intentions to get out into the big French wilderness and bag some uncaught monsters, I’ve been so busy with work that my fishing is being limited to the odd session on our own lakes down here. Whilst I love the lakes, I’m wary of fishing them; somehow being involved in a fishery […]

A compulsory night session

With all the work I’ve been doing down at the lakes, it’s necessary to keep a fire burning to dispose of all the small branches and unusable wood. Of course, as we all know it’s dangerous to leave a fire unattended so when I hauled my aching legs from the silt on Thursday afternoon I […]
